So, I didn't stick to the low key rule completely but overall I think my piece is low key. What do you guys think?
And Dad (Rett), I'm still waiting for others to critique your last one. And I think you should do several more charcoal. It's really nice.
Haleigh, You piece works well. I'd like to know what you think works well with your piece and what doesn't.
I will sit down and critique them this afternoon life has been to busy! Haleighs on a trek in wyo
but she loved you house and liked the mixed media idea (these assignments are harder than I thought)
Rett
I think we all did better on this assignment verses the last. I see
nothing that bothers me with any of them. all low key, reasonable composition. I also feel we aproached it with a little more thought. if you compare with last weeks where we just did light colored peices. Was there a reason for making them light(other than it was the assignment),I feel my last painting would have been better with more contrast This weeks all come from a distant type light (moon. another room etc)it creates mood in them.
I hope this makes some kind of sense
I will critique last weeks under its comments
I liked this assignment. I really like charcoal.
I liked my picture. I enjoyed drawing it a lot too. The table looks like it is going to tip over. I guess more dark tones on the wall is a little needed.
Other then that though I have no regrets.
Dads is better though.
Yours too KJ. I love how the man sticks out. It is awesome.
Haleigh,
After looking at your drawing for the past few days (I've taken breaks) It seems that the lines you used to shade the wall was done hurriedly. They distract from the focal point and idea of the piece. A little more time spent on the drawing would help tighten it up and create a more finished or polished looking piece of art. I hope you're underway for the assignment due tomorrow :)
